Fossdene Primary

Values and Ethos

At Fossdene, we aim to raise standards and achievement for all children through quality first teaching and a dyslexia friendly environment. We believe that high standards of behaviour are achieved through working in partnership with parents and the community. Cultural diversity is valued and all members, both adults and children, are treated with respect. The early identification of individual needs, through ongoing monitoring and assessment, enables us to meet the needs of all learners.

In conjunction with understanding the whole child, pupil standards are at the forefront of all that we do.

In a safe, healthy and stimulating environment, children are expected to achieve to their full potential in order that they can gain economic wellbeing and make a positive contribution to society.

School values

The school holds 6 values at its core-

Be kind, be gentle, be honest, listen, respect, work hard

The respect all staff, pupils and families is non-negotiable, and all staff are expected to remain professional at all times. Every stake holder is valued and it is recognised that each stake holder has an important role to play.

Permanent and supply staff are expected to operate within professional and respectful boundaries in line with the whole school ethos and policies.

As a school community, we will revisit these values during the school year.
